Storage topology in Weaver WMS.

Daniel Hojnacki,

The Weaver WMS warehouse program has a built-in module that allows for advanced design and warehouse topology management. To be able to use the module, you must have at least the Basic package of the system, which can be purchased on a dedicated platform Account Weaver WMS . We also encourage you to test the free 31-day trial version. When deploying the PRO version, the module is available for use by default.

Deployment strategy and storage topology

By default, the topology functionality is disabled because the placement strategy is specific to a single storage. To be able to use it, the user must select a strategy for placing goods for multiple warehouses.

Adding a new warehouse, sector and storage space

"Add warehouse" option - allows e.g. for assigning an individual warehouse code, specifying its dimensions and location address, as well as enabling mapping of an external warehouse.

The "Add sector" option - allows e.g. for assigning an individual code and name, specifying the number and numbering of sub-sectors.

The "Add location" option - allows you to configure a given storage location, giving it a code, name, level and number.

Why use a storage topology?

First of all, because it can reflect the real storage in the system. Thanks to this, the user, after specifying the codes of individual sectors and places, can automatically generate labels, which are then placed in the appropriate places in the warehouse. This is very beneficial for the Weaver WMS PRO version, which offers access to the application to mobile terminals. When putting the goods in the right place, the warehouse worker scans its code from the label, and then the system independently knows where the goods have been put. This also works in reverse.

Assigning properties to warehouse locations

Another useful functionality is assigning properties to specific warehouse locations. The user can specify m. in.:

  • Storage location data - e.g. dimensions, type of packaging on it, maximum weight and height or specification as temporary.
  • Preferred Materials
  • Excluded Materials
  • Minimum States - defined for individual materials. When the minimum level is exceeded, the system will automatically inform the user by changing the color of the item.
